It’s Snowing!

Big, fat snowflakes have started to fall in Vail. We’re under a Winter Storm Warning and the forecast is calling for 6 to 12 inches!

While We Were Gone

AdventureVail missed a lot of classic fall events while we were gone these past few weeks. First was the Oktoberfest in Lionshead and the Vail Oktoberfest the following weekend. We also missed one of the most anticipated and exciting events of the fall, the first snow. The Gore Range got a dusting of snow on September 16.

In the past 10 days we have seen the start of the aspen leaves changing. Now the peak of the fall colors are just getting started here in the Vail Valley. We’ll see some amazing colors in the next few weeks. Stay tuned to AdventureVail for photos of the colorful mountains around Vail.

500?

With only two weeks to go until our season ends, Vail has reported 477” inches of snow. Will we get to 500”?  It’s been a great year with lots of powder days. Making that 500 mark would make this season just a little more special. The forecast looks promising. Although we all welcome the sunshine and spring skiing, there will be no complaining if we end this thing with a few more powder days and make it to 500.

2010/2011 Season Total as of March 30: 447”

We’ve been getting a few inches each day but the conditions haven’t been great everywhere. You’ve had to pick you’re runs with some care to get softer snow. This may all change with snow in the forecast for the next seven days. If we get one big dump out of this, then it won’t matter where you ski, everything will be great. Especially if this cycle of a few inches each day continues.
