A photo of it dumping in Vail Village this afternoon at 4:30pm.
Get ready. It snowed all day. The seven inches reported today quickly turned into much, much more. It was still coming down after the lifts closed and continues to do so this evening. We should wake up tomorrow to lots of snow so get ready for another Powder Day!
The snow report tomorrow will be a big number but much of that fell after the 5:30am report this morning. But not to worry, it will still be an incredible day tomorrow.

Another Powder Day

Today was another amazing powder day at Vail. It was a little cold, but the snow was great and the sun was shinning. This week has been epic.

Sleeper

Today was one of those sleeper powder days. The mountain only reported 2” at 5:30 am. But that was on top of 16” from yesterday. More importantly, it didn’t start snowing until about 5:30 am this morning. When it finally did start, it snowed hard and continued all day. Those that got up early said the conditions were great. Those that were up in the afternoon said conditions were incredible.

It was definitely one of the deeper days I had this year. Tomorrow will also be great but it has stopped snowing. The report tomorrow morning will be big, but keep in mind that most of that fell today. Still, we’ve  had a few feet of snow in the past couple days…so it will be good!

The line at Chair 5 got pretty big today when they finally opened the back bowls. Last year this would have taken hours to get through. With the new Chair 5 it only took about fifteen minutes.

It’s dumping in the Village right now. It looks like we’ll have to set the alarm to get up for first chair tomorrow!

Winter Storm Update

It snowed all day. By the time the lifts shut down there was 12+ inches of pow on Vail Mountain. It’s continued to snow throughout the evening although not has heavy as we would like. It’s hard to say how much is coming down on top of the mountain right now and what that will leave us with tomorrow. What we do know is that it’s going to be a powder day.

But that’s not the story. The real story is what’s going to happen in the next few days. The snow is forcasted to continue and pick up tomorrow, tomorrow night, Monday and all the way into Tuesday. Predictions of total accumulation are being measured in the feet, not inches! Sunday, Monday and Tuesday could be some incredible days.
