Still dumping in Vail!

Still dumping in Vail!

More Snow

Another nine inches reported on Vail Mountain this morning. Some of that fell yesterday morning but it doesn’t take much to make it a powder day. The warm, spring snow has been a little set up which keeps you on top of it a bit more. It makes for some surfy fun skiing. If the sun breaks, it will get heavy quickly and be more difficult to ski so get up early. If we do get some sun this afternoon, head to one of the decks on the mountain and enjoy spring.

Spring Back to Vail continues this weekend with more fun and concerts.

Five Hundred Inches

Vail Mountain reported five new inches of snow today. That makes the season total an even 500”!  It’s been a great year and looks to continue right to the end on Sunday with snow in the forecast everyday.

Spring Back to Vail

Here’s some great powder footage from the Vail backcountry posted on Vimeo earlier this season.

The mountain was skiing really well after the weather settled down a bit. By the end of the day there was a lot of snow up there. Although we were still hitting bottom, with only a few more inches tonight, we will have a great powder day tomorrow!

14” Reported

That makes two feet in two days.

It’s a Powder Day!

Ten inches of new snow reported and it’s still dumping.

Another fun video posted by Vail Resorts.

Today’s seven inches was just enough to call it a Powder Day. The four we got yesterday made things nice and soft for the fresh snow that fell on top of it last night. Our incredible season continues.

It’s dumping again at 6:30 am. There should be a couple inches of fresh on top of yesterday’s powder.

Strange

Today was one of the stranger powder days we’ve had this year. It started out with high winds and near whiteout conditions. The backside was shut down for most of the morning. But when it did open, things were good. It wasn’t your typical blower pow that we usually get this time of year. It was a little set up and wind blown. This type of snow can be incredible to ski. Today was no exception. The snow was fast, smooth and surfy. So much fun!

Blue Sky Basin didn’t open for the afternoon like the rest of the backside. It had all day for the snow to fill in and pile up. There will be tons of snow back there tomorrow.

Three inches were reported this morning and it’s been dumping ever since. It’s also very windy this morning. Should be a great day with lots of Pow.

Four Inches Today

They called four inches on the mountain this morning but it was a conservative four. Many spots had a few inches more.

It’s been snowing all day and looks to continue through the night. This will make for some good skiing tomorrow with the possibility of it being great. Stay tuned and get ready to be at the lifts early!
